College of St. Joseph has used Hog Heaven BBQ for the past two years for our annual major donor appreciation event. We have received nothing but rave reviews about their food and they are very easy to work with. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Great food, cooked and prepared by wonderful people who cater to your every need. As a town health officer I was always concerned by the cleanliness of BBQ, particularly its preparation. However, Hog Heaven put all my concerns to rest. Great care is taken to ensure perfect food. I was also impressed by the new Hog Heaven BBQ Trailer, truly the state of the art. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Ward! Please know that I am not his buddy, his cousin, or his employee about to write this review, i am truly a past customer that was blown away at what he put together for us!

To back up, my friends hired Ward to cater my 40th birthday party, as they know that I am a BBQ junkie, having eaten at many famous BBQ places all around the country including Lockhart -Texas, Kansas City, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc. They found Ward on the internet and took a flyer on hiring him, as we knew nothing about him. Thankfully, what he boasted on his website was all understated! We were given a list of things to choose from, with some helpful recommendations on pairings, and everything sounded great. After much deliberation, we went with pulled pork sandwiches, chicken thighs, and pork ribs, along with salad, cole slaw, and beans.

Ward showed up the night before to set up and start the slow cooking process. In a BBQ world where anyone with a store-bought smoker and a couple hours of experience thinks that they’re a pitmaster, he clearly has made the rounds and knows what he is doing!

The next day when the party was in full swing, he surprised us because in addition to the items we had ordered, he did an unexpected appetizer round that was phenomenal! He grilled up homemade sausage links that he cut into bite-size pieces that were delicious, as well as an absolute crowd-pleaser of one of the best apps I have ever had in my life: grilled jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in bacon!! GOOD GOD!! They were absolutely awesome and people were literally pushing to get to the last ones! This just made us even more excited for what was to come, and with good reason, as everything was AMAZING!! The pulled pork sandwiches were tender and delicious on fresh soft buns, the chicken thighs were great in a tasty marinade, and the ribs were OFF THE CHARTS!! The sides were perfect, escpecially the coleslaw piled on top of the pulled pork sandwiches! Soo good! It was truly an incredible experience, not just a meal, as people got to watch what went into a real BBQ from start to finish. A memorable meal that we still talk about today, 2 years later! Thankfully Ward was intentionally generous in his portions, and we had plenty of left overs!

Bottom line is that I can’t recommend him strongly enough. It felt like Kansas City had come to Vermont for a day, and it was truly the highlight of my 40th birthday weekend!
